TGIF, beauties!! On the blog today are household items that double as beauty helpers. I did some research online and found some of the ones that I might not actually mind trying. I learned a lot about these do-it-yourself beauty tips - and I hope you'll enjoy today's entry!
- Ice Cube Trays | Use an ice cube tray to custom blend your own lip colors or foundation using two or more shades. Simply rinse and pop it in the dishwasher afterwards.
- Rubber Bands | Wrap rubber bands around the cap of nail polish bottles and other hard-to-open tops for better grip.
- Refrigerator | Use your fridge to store eye cream, toners, and astringent. The cooling effect de-puffs eyes and skin.
- Coffee Filters | Ditch the pricey oil-blotting papers and use these instead—they work just as well.
- Band Aids | Use a classic Band-Aid to add some sweet polka dots to your manicure! (Most are perforated with tiny dots.)
- Tin Foil | Did you know that tin foil can be used to create curly hair when coupled with a flatiron? Lean how HERE
- Vaseline | Who knew dabbing a touch of Vaseline wherever you spray perfume makes your scent last longer. Why? Because the oils found in petroleum jelly “holds on” to scents and prevents evaporation.
- Toothpicks | Standard toothpicks are a foolproof way to spot-fix any nail polish mistakes. You can also use ’em to crate basic nail designs like shapes or letters.
- A Toothbrush | Spritzing hairspray on a toothbrush can help tame flyaways and style bangs as well as amping up your brow game.
- Dryer Sheets | Use these to effortlessly remove static from your hair (Bonus Tip: A damp used dryer sheet can remove soap and shampoo build-up in your tub, too!)
Which one(s) listed will you try to incorporate into your beauty routine? What are some other household items/DIY beauty uses that you know of that aren't listed here? Comment below!! Have a great weekend!

5 DIY Makeup Organizer Ideas
Hey, beauties! Are you crossing that fine line between having an impressive makeup collection and being a full-blown hoarder? Classification between the two comes down in a large part to, how you store and/or organize your makeup essentials. Sure, having a nice sized makeup bag or case is great and typically how most will go about it -- but, I say SHOW OFF YOUR PRETTIES and do it in a fun and creative fashion! Here are some ideas on how to organize your makeup that I found online from some pretty ingenious folk.
SHOE ORGANIZER: For those, like myself, who do not have the luxury of a large counter space, this is an effective way to organize lip balm, lip glosses, mascaras, and other beauty essentials. Won't take up any space really, as it just hangs over the door or closet. This organizer won't break the bank, you can find one in your local dollar store and it gets the job done!
PLANT POTS + DECORATIVE ROCKS: Grab a cute flower pot from a yard sale or your local craft store and with some cute decorative rocks (found at the dollar store) take your makeup brushes to a new organized level of cuteness!
VINTAGE PLATES, BOWLS, & MUGS: Not only does this DIY organizer idea make a fashionable way to store your makeup essentials -- it doubles as a jewelry holder to really jazz up the look overall. To get the full deets on how to do this one, visit Designs by Studio C.
MASON JARS: They are repurposed for just about anything these days. Considered quite trendy. For a new way to organize, mount them to a wooden board and store some of your beauty routine goodies in them for a new look to your bathroom wall. This was a page taken out of The DIY Playbook.
DECORATIVE PLATTER/TRAY: If you want your makeup stash laid out more so than stored away in bulk, head on over to We Heart This to see some great tips on how to do it without it looking like a cluttered mess. Just like Bustle West Coast Fashion and Beauty Editor Sara Tan suggests, dress it up a bit with a piece of scrapbooking paper on the bottom of the tray.
The sky is the limit on fun ways to organize your makeup and beauty tools. Comment below with some of the ways you do so!! Don't forget to shop at youravon.com/ssandis for makeup essentials like lipstick, mascara, foundation, concealer, blush, etc. You may need to stock up on some products to fill these creative and fun DIY organization methods!!
