My Avon True Color Perfectly Matte Swatch Post + Review

Good evening, loves! If you haven’t heard yet, Avon has just released a new lipstick line and its right on trend. (True Matte Eyeshadow Quads are also available but in this post, i’ll be getting lippy with the lipsticks.)

I’d like to start with saying that I have never been much of a glossy girl. I don’t care much for sticky lips that don’t provide any color with its shine. I tend to prefer the sparkle and glitz to be around my eyes. While Avon does have a few demi-matte lipsticks to the Ultra Color Lipstick line, the truth is they were lacking some shade variety. Also, demi-matte is not a true matte and so when I caught sight of the Perfectly Matte Lipsticks I got incredibly excited! There are 12 True Color Perfectly Matte Lipstick shades to choose from and they are all gorgeous!

The name of this lipstick line could not be more fitting. First, True Color. Once again, Avon has done it — what you see is what you get. I appreciate that when I see a tube of Avon lipstick, I’m sure to get the same color on my lips when applied. Other brands have let me down but Avon sure hasn’t. Then, there’s the Perfectly Matte part to the name. Yes, just that — Perfectly Matte. If you are looking for a smooth yet vibrant lipstick that has lasting power without shimmer and shine, this line is for you! Here are all 12 of the True Color Perfectly Matte Lipsticks that I “swatched out”. I always have a great time doing these swatches, even though my kids look at my like i’m crazy!

My very first impression on these lipsticks was how smoothly they applied. It was such an effortless application. I’m sure you, like myself, have experienced some waxy lip products that you have to give a great deal of pressure to, to get some kind of color out. This is not the case with these lipsticks — each shade delivers its own unique and eye-pleasing color.  I couldn’t wait to try out all 12 shades on my lips, so I “put my face on” and got my camera ready!

Starting from the bottom left corner and going to the right then straight up, Shade names: Hot Plum, Coral Fever, Perfectly Nude, Marvelous Mocha, and Ideal Lilac. My next impression of the products? Thank goodness for no sticky, harsh, chemical taste. There’s nothing worse than wearing an incredible lip color and having it become tainted due to an unpleasant taste. Also, these lipsticks have such a light feeling to them yet the color is anything but.

After applying these “First Five” I found my favorites were Hot Plum and Marvelous Mocha.  They are all gorgeous though and I can see myself wearing them all for various occasions.  Which one is your favorite out of this group? Leave a comment after the post!

Afternoon, beauts! 2015 brought a lot of firsts for me. First time starting my own business with AVON products, first time really pushing myself outside my comfort zone, first time wearing mascara (yes, I know!), and first time blogging. Motherhood & Beauty: Finding that Balance

Hey, beauts. I know that a lot of my readers are Mothers and so I just had to reach out and do this post. I know that as a Mother, it is hard to get everything done that you have to while trying to fit in everything that you want to. I also know how easy it is to lose yourself along the way. 

My oldest just turned 7 years old last month, and during that time I have had many personal ups and downs. Most of which having to pertain to my self body-image/beauty. I still struggle with feelings of insecurity, that's just part of my nature. I try to find ways to embrace that and still feel really good about myself. When I don't overthink things, I'm better off. Aren't we all?

I think that we all, as individuals, have to find happiness however/wherever we can. When you think about the big picture, the spilled chocolate milk on your floor doesn't amount to much. De-stress by letting things go and watch the natural beauty unfold. 

Being beautiful starts with being confident in yourself. You could wear all the makeup in the world but if you aren't feeling good about yourself - it is going to show through all of that. Feeling blue? Ask yourself - What can I do for myself today? You might not be able to allow for much "me time" but you really should take a few minutes out of each day to "do you". 

Try meditating or drinking a cup of soothing green tea. If that doesn't do it for you, do some retail therapy. Treating myself to a little something always perks me up a bit. Also, try your best to designate a spot for yourself, where you can go and be alone for a bit and collect your thoughts. Start a journal or a blog, so that you can vent and who knows - you might discover a new-found love for writing. You might even be really good at it! Listen to music, but try to stay away from the emotional trigger songs. Get a massage or take a nice, warm, bubble bath. Whatever you decide to do - make sure you are doing it for you. Because you deserve it. Don't let anyone (including yourself) tell you any different.

MY LUST LIST: Lipstick Shades

Hey, beauts! I've previously blogged on my favorite lipstick shades (you can check out that post HERE to see which ones made my list). I'm sure as I try new shades, i'll be updating that favorites list. I'm a firm believer that a gal cannot have too many lipsticks (or any makeup product for that matter). Makeup is fun --- an extension of your personality. I'm a "wear your heart on your sleeve" type girl, so my moods most certainly reflect the style of my look for that time. This is why I find it most fulfilling to have an impressive makeup collection so as to have an open palette of colors and trends. 

I cannot say enough positive things about AVON makeup. The different lipstick lines allow for a wide variety in how you want your makeup to look and feel. Do you need something that is going to hold up and last for hours? Do you want some shimmer and sparkle? How about a matte finish - is that more your scene? AVON has something for every occasion. Today's entry will be on the lipstick shades that are on my list, that I've just got to try out ASAP. Hence, My Lippy To Do List!

FROM THE ULTRA COLOR LIPSTICK LINE: (4.3 out of 5 star rating)
Satin Finish - shade Vamp. This one is a dark, deep, purple. Gosh, it looks gorgeous. I imagine myself wearing this shade on a girls night out! Something fun, dark and mysterious. Definitely something that will turn heads. Vamp is bold, high fashion, and I want it. I love that this lipstick line contains a lip-nourishing formula of shea butter, omega-3 oil, arctic berry and vitamin E. 

Demi Matte Finish - shade Matte Nude. I love a great natural lippy look from time to time! There are a few nude colored shades that have my heart but I want to try one in a matte finish. Matte makeup is all the rage, and especially for Fall right around the corner, its an on-trend look. No shine, no fuss. Simplistic. A quick touch of this in the morning will make you feel ready and confident for the day. You can't go wrong with a subtle lipstick shade, simple as that.

FROM THE BEYOND COLOR LIPSTICK LINE: (4 out of 5 star rating)
shade Bitten. What a fun and bright pink color! The improved Beyond Color Lipstick line is now formulated with jojoba oil, caffeine and pomegranate extract. You can trust that your lips are protected with its included SPF 15. All shades in this line have a Satin finish. I've just got to try this one. "On Wednesday's we wear pink." right!?


shade Heat Wave. What girl doesn't love a classic red lip? I know I do! A red lip gives me confidence and empowerment. It makes me feel like a whole new person, really. I'm always down to try a new shade of red and add it to my collection of rose and ruby colored pretties. This shade looks to me like it would be classic yet have that little bit of extra spunk. The name says it all, this one is HOT HOT HOT!


FROM THE EXTRA LASTING LIPSTICK LINE: (3.8 out of 5 star rating)
shade Pink Peach. Looks like this one is a sweet pale pink with a hint of orange - a salmon color, if you will. This is the lipstick like that you want to get if you know that you need your lippy look to last for hours. I can imagine myself wearing this shade on a day out with my husband, browsing around the stores, or having a picnic lunch at the park. Just too sweet.

A Letter to my Younger Self (Including Some Beauty Advice)

Good morning, beauties! I've seen a fair share of posts floating around the web on "letters" people have wrote to their younger selves. I really like the idea, so I thought i'd give it a go. Here is a letter to my younger self, including beauty advice that I wish I was given then. I hope you enjoy! 

To my younger self, 
You may or may not recognize the person that you have become. You sure have come a long way from the timid and play-it-safe type girl that is shown in Mom's photo albums. You know, the girl hiding behind her cousins in the background. The one with the crooked smile, red face, and insecurities blended in. I know you were scared then... scared to shine, to stand out, to fit in -- but I can assure you, it will all be okay. You will blossom and you will thrive, you will have a life that others themselves hope to have one day. You will find love, even though you feel like no one could possibly want to be around you for more than a quick hello in passing. 

You are beautiful even when you don't feel like you are. Your husband will tell you that, and your children will see you as an Angel. That's right, you will have kids! You will have kind, sweet, children that you are so incredibly proud of. You always wanted to be a Mother and one day you will be. It will be spectacular and your greatest accomplishment. 

You are trusted and loyal to your friends, you always have been though and people love you for it. Being that confidant to others helps build your confidence as you like to be needed. 

A few tips... don't worry so much what other people think of you. You will still struggle with this in your adult years, but it becomes less about the random folk and more about worrying what family thinks of you. A big tip: they all think you are great! Relax a little, high school is a roller coaster of emotions.. feel them all and embrace them. Then, move on! As you'll discover, the people who you thought mattered a great deal in your life, the girls at the "cool table" who turn away and snicker as you walk by? In your adult years, you can barely remember their names or faces. It's all just a blur really. 

You were so worried about what you wore. You wanted so badly to be in style and impress others. Well, as it turns out having your own sense of style and being different from others is now trendy. So, again... no worries. None of those things hold true value anyway. Focus more on what you can do for the world rather than what the world can do for you. Focus more on what you have to say rather than what brand your jeans are. Speaking of jeans... STOP WORRYING ABOUT YOUR SIZE!

As for some beauty tips/pointers.. do yourself a favor and make sure you are using the correct shade of foundation. Looking back at photos I have found you, my younger self, looking like you powdered your face with baby powder. Haha, this does make me giggle now. Also, don't worry - colored eyeliner is going to be HUGE when you are older... so keep rocking that navy blue and purple eyeliner looks, cause you're setting the trend with bold colors.

How to Start Selling AVON | How Selling AVON Works

Hey there, beauties! AVON provides you with all the tools and training {FREE Online Courses via AVON University} you need to be a Successful Avon Representative. In addition, your up-line {this is the person whose reference code you use online} and your district manager are there to support and help you as well. 

When I started my AVON business, I was really looking for something to do for myself. I was a Stay at Home Mom to two great kids. One of whom is in school and the other will be starting school this Fall. One of the first things I thought about when considering a journey with AVON was the discount I would get for selling, so I could get some makeup, fashion, and jewelry products that otherwise I was not purchasing. How much does it cost to start selling AVON?

As one of the oldest and more popular direct sales companies out there, AVON is probably one of the least expensive home businesses to start up. The cost is only $15. Your $15 investment covers the cost of your starter kit which includes 20 AVON brochures, 2 full size products, samples, and training materials.

How much do you make selling AVON?

You can earn money with AVON through sales, online sales, and leadership. To earn a profit on AVON sales through the brochure, you must submit a minimum of $50 in total orders in a campaign. Not only are you selling AVON as an AVON Independent Sales Representative, but you also have the opportunity to sell mark. products which is a brand AVON launched, "geared for" teens/young adults. When you collect money from your customers, you collect the amount for their total order and sales tax. When you submit your customers’ orders to AVON, you are billed for the cost of the products and sales tax. The difference between the amount collected from your customers and what you owe AVON is your profit. The only time you will receive an actual check from AVON is through the leadership program and other bonus incentives.

In order to help you get your business off the ground, AVON gives you an opportunity to earn free AVON products, $100 in cash bonuses, and 100 free samples during your first 5 campaigns as an AVON Representative when you submit orders of $100 or more through the Hit $100 Challenge incentive.

When Selling AVON Online, your customers can have their order shipped directly to their home (direct delivery) You will earn 20% commission on online orders (25% commission for President’s Club members). 

How does Selling AVON Work?

What is an AVON campaign? Each AVON campaign runs for two weeks. There are 26 AVON campaigns in a sales cycle. Based on your zip code, you will be assigned to a district and become part of a mail plan | given an RPS (Representative Processing Schedule) which determines which day of the week your order is due. All new AVON Representatives must submit their AVON orders online or via FAST Talk (Avon’s automated phone system).

Are there any other costs associated with selling AVON? 

Yes, there are a few other costs you need to be aware of with selling AVON. Each campaign that you place an order, you will be charged the One Simple Fee. It starts at $5.95 and covers the cost of shipping & handling. Don’t worry though -- when you collect the .75 cent order processing fee from your customers, it is yours to keep to cover your AVON shipping costs. The only other costs you will be responsible for when selling AVON is buying your own brochures (starting at $6.49 for a pack of 10 and get less expensive the more you buy), samples (optional), and sales tools (AVON branded sales tools like bags – also optional).

My 5 Favorite Lipstick Shades

Hey, beauties! Happy Monday to all. Hopefully, everyone had a fun and safe Independence Day weekend. I've decided today to blog about my favorite AVON lipstick shades. First though, I want to say that prior to me starting my AVON business, I was not a fan of lipstick. I never wore it. I was more a lip gloss or just Plain Jane, au natural type gal.
