My Avon True Color Perfectly Matte Swatch Post + Review

Good evening, loves! If you haven’t heard yet, Avon has just released a new lipstick line and its right on trend. (True Matte Eyeshadow Quads are also available but in this post, i’ll be getting lippy with the lipsticks.)

I’d like to start with saying that I have never been much of a glossy girl. I don’t care much for sticky lips that don’t provide any color with its shine. I tend to prefer the sparkle and glitz to be around my eyes. While Avon does have a few demi-matte lipsticks to the Ultra Color Lipstick line, the truth is they were lacking some shade variety. Also, demi-matte is not a true matte and so when I caught sight of the Perfectly Matte Lipsticks I got incredibly excited! There are 12 True Color Perfectly Matte Lipstick shades to choose from and they are all gorgeous!

The name of this lipstick line could not be more fitting. First, True Color. Once again, Avon has done it — what you see is what you get. I appreciate that when I see a tube of Avon lipstick, I’m sure to get the same color on my lips when applied. Other brands have let me down but Avon sure hasn’t. Then, there’s the Perfectly Matte part to the name. Yes, just that — Perfectly Matte. If you are looking for a smooth yet vibrant lipstick that has lasting power without shimmer and shine, this line is for you! Here are all 12 of the True Color Perfectly Matte Lipsticks that I “swatched out”. I always have a great time doing these swatches, even though my kids look at my like i’m crazy!

My very first impression on these lipsticks was how smoothly they applied. It was such an effortless application. I’m sure you, like myself, have experienced some waxy lip products that you have to give a great deal of pressure to, to get some kind of color out. This is not the case with these lipsticks — each shade delivers its own unique and eye-pleasing color.  I couldn’t wait to try out all 12 shades on my lips, so I “put my face on” and got my camera ready!

Starting from the bottom left corner and going to the right then straight up, Shade names: Hot Plum, Coral Fever, Perfectly Nude, Marvelous Mocha, and Ideal Lilac. My next impression of the products? Thank goodness for no sticky, harsh, chemical taste. There’s nothing worse than wearing an incredible lip color and having it become tainted due to an unpleasant taste. Also, these lipsticks have such a light feeling to them yet the color is anything but.

After applying these “First Five” I found my favorites were Hot Plum and Marvelous Mocha.  They are all gorgeous though and I can see myself wearing them all for various occasions.  Which one is your favorite out of this group? Leave a comment after the post!

Top row going from left to right, Shade names: Superb Wine, Red Supreme and Ravishing Rose. Middle row going from left to right, Shade names: Adoring Love, Pure Pink and Electric Pink. And oh-my-goodness, Electric Pink!? What fun! Bold shades always steal my heart because they give me a fierceness in myself that makes me feel empowered. I also enjoy the sweetness and innocence of shade Pure Pink.

MY LUST LIST: Lipstick Shades

Hey, beauts! I've previously blogged on my favorite lipstick shades (you can check out that post HERE to see which ones made my list). I'm sure as I try new shades, i'll be updating that favorites list. I'm a firm believer that a gal cannot have too many lipsticks (or any makeup product for that matter). Makeup is fun --- an extension of your personality. I'm a "wear your heart on your sleeve" type girl, so my moods most certainly reflect the style of my look for that time. This is why I find it most fulfilling to have an impressive makeup collection so as to have an open palette of colors and trends. 

I cannot say enough positive things about AVON makeup. The different lipstick lines allow for a wide variety in how you want your makeup to look and feel. Do you need something that is going to hold up and last for hours? Do you want some shimmer and sparkle? How about a matte finish - is that more your scene? AVON has something for every occasion. Today's entry will be on the lipstick shades that are on my list, that I've just got to try out ASAP. Hence, My Lippy To Do List!

FROM THE ULTRA COLOR LIPSTICK LINE: (4.3 out of 5 star rating)
Satin Finish - shade Vamp. This one is a dark, deep, purple. Gosh, it looks gorgeous. I imagine myself wearing this shade on a girls night out! Something fun, dark and mysterious. Definitely something that will turn heads. Vamp is bold, high fashion, and I want it. I love that this lipstick line contains a lip-nourishing formula of shea butter, omega-3 oil, arctic berry and vitamin E. 

Demi Matte Finish - shade Matte Nude. I love a great natural lippy look from time to time! There are a few nude colored shades that have my heart but I want to try one in a matte finish. Matte makeup is all the rage, and especially for Fall right around the corner, its an on-trend look. No shine, no fuss. Simplistic. A quick touch of this in the morning will make you feel ready and confident for the day. You can't go wrong with a subtle lipstick shade, simple as that.

FROM THE BEYOND COLOR LIPSTICK LINE: (4 out of 5 star rating)
shade Bitten. What a fun and bright pink color! The improved Beyond Color Lipstick line is now formulated with jojoba oil, caffeine and pomegranate extract. You can trust that your lips are protected with its included SPF 15. All shades in this line have a Satin finish. I've just got to try this one. "On Wednesday's we wear pink." right!?


shade Heat Wave. What girl doesn't love a classic red lip? I know I do! A red lip gives me confidence and empowerment. It makes me feel like a whole new person, really. I'm always down to try a new shade of red and add it to my collection of rose and ruby colored pretties. This shade looks to me like it would be classic yet have that little bit of extra spunk. The name says it all, this one is HOT HOT HOT!


FROM THE EXTRA LASTING LIPSTICK LINE: (3.8 out of 5 star rating)
shade Pink Peach. Looks like this one is a sweet pale pink with a hint of orange - a salmon color, if you will. This is the lipstick like that you want to get if you know that you need your lippy look to last for hours. I can imagine myself wearing this shade on a day out with my husband, browsing around the stores, or having a picnic lunch at the park. Just too sweet.

What AVON Has Done For Me

Before starting my journey and #beautiful story with AVON, I was unsure of myself... doubts in my own self took over. Sure, I had more than enough going on at home with family life and housework - BUT something in ME was missing. Something for me was missing. 

I looked into direct selling companies and of course AVON was high on the list. For starters, its #legit. AVON has been around for almost 130 years.. they clearly are doing something right. Since starting my own AVON business I am more outspoken. You have to be! The most interesting take on this for me is just how easy and naturally it came about. I have struggled my entire life with anxiety and depression. AVON has launched me out of my own shell and i'm becoming a strong and more #independent woman. 

My hope is to continue to grow with my #business and for those who are struggling with themselves in a way as I was... that they too can find that #AVON can help them.  I truly feel this way.
